It’s rare for a healthy tooth to get an infection in the root, but when a tooth is compromised by decay, cracks or other damage, bacteria can enter into the sensitive pulp and cause inflammation in the root. Endodontic procedures to clean out infected tooth roots are generally recommended to prevent the spread of infection and restore the function and appearance of the smile.

The Role of Dental Crowns in Root Canal Procedures

There are many different reasons the pulp of a tooth can become infected and require a root canal, including:
